1. Introduction
1.1 The Ripper Art Prize (the “Prize”) is organized Gallery Jones, sponsored by Elsternwick Gardens by Milieu and supported by Ripponlea Estate and RT Edgar (the “Organizers”).
1.2 By submitting an artwork to the Prize, the entrant (the “Artist”) agrees to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1 The Prize is open to all artists aged 18 and over.
2.2 All artworks must be original works created by the submitting Artist.
2.3 Collaborative works will be accepted, but all collaborating artists must be credited and meet the eligibility criteria.
3. Submission Process
3.1 Artists must submit their entries through the official submission form available on the Gallery Jones website.
3.2 Each Artist may submit up to two artworks.
3.3 Submissions must include high-resolution images of the artwork, an artist statement, and a completed entry form.
3.4 All submissions must be received by the specified deadline. Late entries will not be considered.
4. Artwork Requirements
4.1 Artworks must be no larger than 1200 x 1200mm
4.2 Ceramics must be no larger than 600mm on the longest side
4.3 Artworks can be in any medium, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, drawing, mixed media and ceramics.
4.3 All wall-mounted artworks must be professionally prepared for hanging and display, including the use of D-ring hangers. Paper and photographic works must be framed. Stretched canvases are acceptable but must have reinforced crossbars with D-rings securely attached. Gallery Jones will provide framing at a competitive rate.
4.3 All artworks submitted must be available for sale.
5. Judging and Selection
5.1 All submitted artworks will be reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the Organisers.
5.2 The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process.
5.3 Shortlisted Artists will be notified by email and announced on the Gallery Jones website and Instagram
6. Exhibition
6.1 Selected artworks will be exhibited at Gallery Jones for the duration of the Prize exhibition.
6.2 The Organizers reserve the right to determine the placement and display of artworks within the exhibition space.
6.3 Freight costs and all other charges relating to the delivery and collection of entered artworks are the sole responsibility of the artist.
6.4 Gallery Jones will retain 30% of the sale price of the finalists in the exhibition.
7. Prizes
7.1 The Prize will be awarded to the Artist whose work is judged to be the best overall by the panel of judges.
7.2 The Main Prize consists of a monetary award of $10,000 presented by Milieu Property.
7.3 Additional commendations and prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
7.4 A Peoples Choice Award will be presented at the end of the exhibition.
8. Copyright and Reproduction
8.1 The Artist retains copyright of their submitted artwork.
8.2 By entering the Prize, the Artist grants the Organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce images of the submitted artwork for promotional and publicity purposes related to the Prize and its exhibition.
9. Liability
9.1 The Organizers will take all reasonable care in handling the artworks but are not responsible for any loss or damage to the artworks while in their possession.
9.2 Artists are responsible for insuring their artworks during transit and exhibition.
10. Collection of Artwork
10.1 Selected artworks must be collected within 30 days of the exhibition closing date.
11. Agreement
11.1 By submitting an artwork, the Artist agrees to these Terms and Conditions.
11.2 The Organizers reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Gallery Jones website.
